JupyterDays Boston 2016
We’re excited to announce our next event! Join us for JupyterDays Boston in Cambridge, MA on March 17–18, 2016. The event will be hosted at the Harvard Law School, Wasserstein Hall, Milstein East A & B, and organized by O’Reilly Media, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics Library and the Harvard Law School Library. This event is being co-organized with core Jupyter/IPython project contributors, some of whom will be present.
What is it?
JupyterDays Boston is a two-day workshop on the open-source Jupyter/IPython Project, including major components like the widely used Jupyter Notebook as well as the project’s underlying architecture and tools. The event will be an engaging mix of talks, discussions, hands-on training sessions, and hacking with topics spanning the full ecosystem of Jupyter.
Breakfast, lunch (first day only) and snacks will be served.
So what will we be doing?
Below you will find agenda highlights, a full speaker lineup will be announced closer to the event date.
Day 1
• 9:00am — 9:30am: Check in, network, and enjoy breakfast
• 9:30am — 10:30am: Project Jupyter Keynote with Q&A
• 10:30am — 12:00pm: Birds of a Feather (BoF) session and lively discussion
• 12:00pm — 1:30pm: Yummy lunch (provided) and more BoF discussions
• 1:30pm — 2:30pm: Two brief talks by members of the Jupyter community
• 2:30pm — 2:45pm: Relax, it’s break time
• 2:45pm — 3:45pm: Two brief talks by members of the Jupyter community
• 3:45pm — 4:00pm: Get up and stretch
• 4:00pm — 5:30pm: Panel Discussion: Jupyter in education
Day 2
• 9:00am — 9:30am: Check in, network, and enjoy breakfast
• 9:30am — 10:30am: Introduction to Docker and Jupyter
• 10:30am — 12:00pm: Deploying Jupyter on Carina
• 12:00pm — 4:30pm: Lunch (on your own), coding and projects
• 4:30pm — 5:00pm: Closing remarks

How can I be a part of it?
If you are interested in being a part of the event, there are several opportunities for you. You can choose to submit a proposal by February 26 for either a talk or a birds of a feather session on a Jupyter-related topic that you think attendees would be interested in hearing about or discussing. Additionally, if you have experience with using Jupyter in education and would be interested in participating in a panel discussion on the topic, please get in touch with us.
How can my organization be a part of it?
