Jupyter Community Workshops: Call for Proposals for 2027

The Jupyter Community Building Working Group is excited to announce that the call for proposals for Jupyter Community Workshops 2027 is now open through Monday, November 30!
tl;dr: Have an idea for an event to bring contributors together? We want YOU to host a community workshop.
Jupyter Community Workshops are community-organized events designed to bring people together to make focused collaboration possible. While most of Jupyter’s work happens through online collaboration, experience has shown us the value of in-person workshops. These events are particularly valuable for advancing high-impact strategic projects, growing the community of contributors, and strengthening collaborations.
We encourage proposals for workshops that focus on the Jupyter contributor community and whose aims will include at least one of the following:
- Facilitate high-impact strategic work that supports developing software, community building, and management practices (like roadmapping) in Project Jupyter
- Build community by engaging contributors and maintainers, providing growth and learning opportunities, and developing and supporting social connections
- Welcome a diverse group of contributors (for example, gender, experience level, project responsibilities, geographic location, etc.)
Most workshops are 2–5 days and include 10 or more people. Typically we fund $5,000–$15,000 per workshop, covering direct expenses such as travel, lodging, meals, or event space (though often hosts can secure donated event space). We encourage you to be creative—if you have a larger or smaller event, propose it!

After the submission deadline (Nov 30), the Jupyter Community Building Working Group will review proposals. Accepted proposals will receive guidance from the Jupyter Foundation Program Management team to finalize logistics and a budget, set up registration, and help your event run smoothly.
We are grateful for the support of the Jupyter Foundation and its members that makes our workshops possible. If your organization would like to support this program, please contact the Jupyter Foundation.
